Real Madrid Castilla played against Numancia what was their last preseason friendly before the start of the Liga Adelante next Sunday 18th August at El Molinon against Sporting Gijon (19:00). The group led by Alberto Toril played out a goalless draw without many chances for either side against another team from the same division to bring to a close their preparatory matches with a record of one win, two draws and one defeat. Pacheco played a key role in the match in stopping a penalty in the second half, as did Jaime Romero, the team’s second summer incorporation ahead of the new season as he made his first appearance in a Real Madrid shirt.
The match started with both teams struggling to gain control of the ball and with much of the action taking place in midfield. The lack of pace of both teams was evident and neither managed to produce anything with their attacks. A long shot from Omar and good piece of play by Lucas, who was also involved in a controversial fall in the box, were the Whites’ clearest chances, while any danger that Numancia created came from their right wing.
After the break the Numancia enjoyed the clearest chance but were denied by Pacheco’s brilliance. It came from a penalty conceded by Llorente (54') that Castilla’s goalkeeper stopped to prevent the first goal. In the 58th minute Jaime Romero, Real Madrid Castilla’s second signing ahead of the new campaign, took to the field and played his first minutes with the reserves. The match continued in the same manner as the first half, with a lot of football being played in midfield and few chances being created which ultimately lead to it ending goalless. Castilla’s next match will be on 18th August in match day one of the league season.
